Jill Watson - Summer 2015

Earlier this month, I featured stylist Jill Watson. She shared with us her favorite simple casual outfit this summer. Today, she shares a simple dressed-up look for a casual night out! I absolutely adore how easily she combined two colors that most normally wouldn’t put together. She also has perfected the half tuck in this photo shoot. If you love a loose fit top, easily roll it up and tuck it into your skirt or jeans to add a bit of character to your look. Below, I wanted to share again what inspires Jill as she selects an outfit.

I chose these outifts because I thought they represented my style well, easy & simple. I try to keep my closet full of pieces that are versatile and a breeze to put together. I rarely buy something unless I can think of at least three different outfits I could wear it with. Mixing and matching basics is my favorite, and I felt like each of these outfits were things I would wear every day.”

Have a wonderful Friday and pull together this simple look for a night out!

Top from Old Navy. Skirt from J.Crew. *These are not currently in stock, but combine a solid color top with a solid color skirt to give you that same chic style.

A few favorites from my trip to Boston! You can’t beat the architecture and history of this city.

Things to do:

Go shopping at the SoWa Markets. Dine at Toro and Aquitaine. Brunch at Stephanie’s on Newbury and South End Buttery. Lunch or Breakfast at Tatte. Grab cocktails at Drink. Don’t skip an Italian dinner on the North End. Find a park and soak up the sun this time of year in Boston. Everyone there is. Ride the T aka public transportation. If you haven’t walked the freedom trail, you probably should at least once!

Going anywhere fun this summer?

One of my absolute favorite things is supporting other creatives through photography! In the blog post, I’m featuring a friend, Amanda Glaeser, as she launches Dean Arthur. Dean Arthur is a jewelry line she started a few months ago through the encouragement of several friends.

“I started making these earrings just out of fun and gave some to my friend Meg as a going away present. Obviously, I made a pair for myself as well. I soon realized that every time I wore them, I received multiple compliments and inquiries about where I bought them from complete strangers.”

Thus, Dean Arthur was born. She decided to name the company after her grandfather, Dean Arthur Venghaus. Her other company, Glass Reels (glassreels.com), is a play on her last name (Glaeser = glasses in German) and she wanted to incorporate her family into this company as well.

“It’s been fun building the concept around him. For example, each different type of earring will be named after one of his cows. Riding around and “cattling” as we called it; checking on and feeding his cows was always something super fun my cousins and I would do with him and my grandmother. So, as I add more types of earrings to the line (some fun leather designs are coming soon!), I’ll name them after the cows we used to feed range cubes from the back of his truck.”

With the future of Dean Arthur being limitless through this launch, Amanda’s goal is to be able to grow this jewelry line into a full blown brand. She wants to be able to source the raw materials in order to ensure people all over the world are being paid a fair wage for creating beautiful fabrics.

I’m looking forward to seeing her company grow as well as see her product line expand. Here’s to artists who are using their talents to take risks and launch a business! Keep up-to-date with her on social media. (links below)

Dreaming of summer? After the last week of rain and thunderstorms, I admit I’m even ready for the Texas heat.

Today, I’m featuring Jill Watson in her casual summer look! She recently launched her own wardrobe styling services. I asked her to share more about this look and what inspired her outfit choice for this photo shoot.

I chose these outifts because I thought they represented my style well, easy & simple. I try to keep my closet full of pieces that are versatile and a breeze to put together. I rarely buy something unless I can think of at least three different outfits I could wear it with. Here’s to keeping it simple this summer!
